The A1 level is divided into four sequential classes:

A1.1 – A1.2 – A1.3 – A1.4

 

Each class lasts for 10 weeks.

A1.1 Syllabus

Grammar:

Italian alphabet and pronunciation; 
Nouns, gender and number; 
Personal pronouns; 
Present tense of regular verbs (1st, 2nd, 3rd
conjugation);
Irregular verbs: essere, stare, avere, fare;
Indefinite and definite articles; 
Adjectives; 
Prepositions a, in, di.

Communication skills:

Greetings and introductions; 
Addressing people formally/informally; 
Asking people how they are doing; 
Thanking and apologizing; 
Express our physical and emotional state of being; 
Asking and replying to simple conversational questions
such as “where are you from? / where do you live? /
what do you do for a living? What do you do in your
free time?”, etc.; 
Ordering at the bar; 
Expressing preferences;
Numbers 1 to 100.

A1.2 Syllabus

Grammar:

Present tense of –ire verbs
Irregular verbs: andare, venire
Modal verb dovere
Adverbs and frequency expressions
Simple prepositions di, a, da, in, con, su, per, tra,
fra
Compound prepositions
Present tense of reflexive verbs

Communication skills:

Describing living spaces
Vocabulary useful in a hotel
Asking and giving directions
Asking and telling the time
Talking about daily routines
Ordinal numbers 1 st -10 th

A1.3 Syllabus

Grammar:

Irregular verbs: uscire
Verb piacere: present tense and constructions with
the indirect object pronouns
Negative sentences with mai
Simple past with essere and avere
Irregular past participles

Communication skills:

Talking about leisure activities
Describing events in the past
Weather and seasons
Telling a simple biography
Talking about vacations
Writing a postcard

Grammar:

Possessives adjectives
Family names
Direct object pronouns
Demonstratives questo and quello
Introduction to the imperfect tense: verb essere
Informal imperative

Communication skills:

Italian holidays and country fairs
Clothing and fashion
Grocery shopping: vendors, foods, idioms
Talking about the workplace
Talking about health: wellness, common problems,
doctors, remedies
